Since its inception in 2012, Grow Home has been at the forefront of transforming Baltimore’s landscape, turning underused green spaces into vibrant hubs of community life. But our mission extends much further; we strive to empower local residents, particularly young people, by providing opportunities for recreation, employment, and skill development. From Curtis Bay to Leakin Park, our work has touched countless lives, encouraging residents to take stewardship of their communities. The goal of our work is to not only revitalize physical spaces but to also foster a sense of community pride and ownership.
Today’s Efforts, Tomorrow’s Leaders
Our initiatives like the Baltimore Builders program and Grow Home Career Launchers are prime examples of our commitment to the youth of Baltimore. By offering mentorship and employment opportunities in various fields such as construction, urban farming, and green technology, we are equipping young individuals with both the hard and soft skills essential for their future success. Our youth sports programs and the ‘Sound of Silence’ campaign in local schools are tailored to encourage physical activity and mental health awareness among children and teenagers. These efforts not only nurture individual talents and aspirations but also contribute to the overall health and well-being of our communities.
Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, our goals are ambitious, but they are achievable with your support. We aim to expand our reach to more green spaces and young minds across Baltimore. Projects like the free training program for national industry certification and the return of drivers education in city schools are just the beginning. With every dollar you contribute, we move closer to our goal of raising $5,000, which will help us to assist at least 300 more students and families in 2024.
